How to Measure a Bimini Top
Count the bows, then width, length, height and tube size. Five numbers and a photo.

Count the bows, then measure the width across the boat between the mounting points, the fore and aft length with the top raised, and the height from the mount to the top of the frame. Note the tube size too. The number of bows on the new top has to match the frame.
How to measure for a replacement bimini top
Raise the top to its running position. Measure across the boat between the mounting points, then fore and aft from the first bow to the last, then from the deck mount up to the top of the frame. Write down the tube size and take a photo from the side.
A typical 3-bow frame is about 106 inches wide and 84 inches fore and aft, 44 inches high, in seven-eighths or one inch tube.
What changes between 3 and 4 bow tops
The number of bows on the top has to match the frame. A 3-bow frame only takes a 3-bow skin, and the same goes for 2 and 4 bows. A 4-bow frame covers a longer spread, about 98 inches against 84 on a 3-bow frame.
Are bimini tops universal
No. A top has to match the bow count, width and spread of the frame. Kit tops are cut for a set frame size, such as a 3-bow skin for frames up to 106 inches wide. A top patterned on your own frame fits it.
