    Questions

    Questions about vinyl repair

How do I repair a rip in my boat seat?

A split seam can be restitched and a torn panel replaced with matching vinyl. Tape and patch kits hold for a while, but a sewn repair lasts longer.

How much does it cost to repair a cracked vinyl boat seat?

Repairs are quoted from your photos. A full recover starts from $200 per cushion.

How to get white vinyl boat seats white again?

Clean first with a marine vinyl cleaner and a soft brush. If stains stay, the vinyl can be recolored in our shop, and cracked vinyl is better replaced.

Can you match the color of my other seats?

We match color and stitch with swatches held against your seats. We match faded vinyl with swatches held against your seats before starting.

    Do vinyl repair kits work?

A boat seat repair kit can hide a small cut or scuff for a while. It does not hold on a split seam or a panel under load, and cracked vinyl keeps cracking around the patch, so those need a sewn repair or a new panel.

How do you repair vinyl seats?

Split seams are restitched with UV thread and torn or cracked panels are cut out and replaced with matching marine vinyl. Faded vinyl that is still soft can be recolored.

What type of tape is best for repairing vinyl boat seats?

Vinyl repair tape made for outdoor use holds a small tear for a while. It lifts in sun and spray, so treat it as a stopgap until the panel is sewn.

What is the best adhesive for fixing vinyl seats?

A vinyl adhesive rated for outdoor use can hold a loose edge or a patch. Glue does not hold a seam under load, so split seams need restitching.
